An Update from Blackjack Wines

An Update from Blackjack Wines

Posted by Ian McKenzie on

Thank you to everyone who has reached out with messages, calls, and support over the past days. Your kindness and concern have meant more to us than words can express.

We want to reassure our community that the Blackjack Vineyard and Winery, our home, and our family and team are all safe.

Sadly, the impact on Blackjack Wines has still been significant.

Impact on Our Wines

We have lost approximately 95% of our bottled stock that was held offsite at the Harcourt coolstore.

Most devastating for us is the loss of 33 years of museum wines, stored at another offsite Harcourt coolstore. These wines represented the history and evolution of Blackjack Wines — vintages carefully cellared over decades, each telling the story of our vineyard and the seasons that shaped them.

Trading & Cellar Door Update

While our remaining stock is limited, we do have sufficient wine to:

  • Continue trading online

  • Reopen and operate our cellar door

Our cellar door will reopen on the long weekend from 24 January.

We are also preparing to bottle our 2024 vintage in early March, which will allow us to begin rebuilding our cellar and looking ahead with hope.

With Our Community

We are especially thinking of the Harcourt and surrounding communities, as this event has been devastating for so many families, businesses, and friends. Our hearts are with everyone affected.

We would also like to sincerely thank the firefighters, volunteers, and first responders who continue to work tirelessly throughout this disaster.

Thank you again for your ongoing support, patience, and understanding during this incredibly difficult time.

With gratitude,
The Blackjack Wines Family
